About the Role
Meets with clients in one-on-one and group meetings to discuss project needs, expectations, and requirements. Provides initial estimates to the client regarding project feasibility, timelines, and budget. Prepares the Preliminary Estimate for a project by preparing design drawings in AutoCAD according to client needs; and analyzing As-Built drawings and floor plans to determine the structural and building code implications of a project. Identifies and discusses with the client issues relating to compliance, procurement processes and policies, building code requirements, university standards (e.g., architectural, project, etc.), facilities operational limits, and budget constraints. Discusses the level of involvement of external consultants and the nature of the consultants who might be retained. Creates the Project Charter which includes detailed project designs, project scope, technical specifications, and updated budget estimates. Participates in the selection of contractors for projects; prepares tender documentation to be bid on by contractors; evaluates the submitted bids; recommends contractors to the Manager; and preparing contract documents to be signed off on by the Supervisor and contractor. Coordinates the construction phase of a project by preparing and coordinating project timelines for contractors and in-house trades staff; conducting site visits to track progress and ensure work adheres to project specifications.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using Auto-Cad, Excel, Word & Adobe programs. They will have great communication skills and experience in the trades.

Qualifications
High school graduation and completion of a two-year diploma in an accredited engineering technology, or mechanical, technology, or architectural technology program. 6 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.

- Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems at an advanced level (e.g., TMA Scheduler).
- Ability to use standard office software applications at an intermediate level (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.).
- Occasional overtime required.
- Ability to lift up to 10 kg.
- Ability to arrange transportation to various work locations.
