Dispatcher

Provide Public Safety dispatching services to assure safety and security for
members of the campus community.
- Receive and document calls for services and dispatch officers as needed.
- Assess the nature of various public safety and emergency situations, responding in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Carry out orders and responses to emergencies with accuracy and speed.
- Operate Public Safety Department two-way radio and computer systems.
- Monitor cameras as needed.
- Maintain accurate dispatching records i.e. daily dispatcher log, incident reports, officer daily reports, etc.
- Give out information on a “need to know” basis. Requests for confidential information should be directed to the Chief of Public Safety
- High degree of confidentiality.
- Exhibits good judgment and discretion.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely during both telephone and radio communications.
- Ability to deal with the public in a polite and tactful manner.
- Ability to maintain composure during emergency situations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good multi-tasking skills.
