Position SummaryUnder general supervision of the Director or designee, the Staff Social Worker supports the mission of CAPS and the University in providing the highest quality mental health services for the wide range of students at UCLA. Duties and responsibilities include counseling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples; group counseling, consultation, outreach, prevention and mental health education to the campus; emergency services; supervision; providing information and referral services. Accept overall direction from the Director or designee, and participates in meetings, committees and carries out necessary charting and data requirements. Act in a manner consistent with the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers and adheres to HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications Minimum of 3 years post masters experience, at least one of which must be in a community based clinical setting. (Required) Demonstrated ability to conduct brief psychotherapy and crisis intervention (Required)Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. (Required)Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. (Required)Demonstrated ability to supervise interns and/or trainees. (Required)Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Windows, Word. (Required)Ability to work within a higher education setting. (Required)Working knowledge of cultural and ethnic factors affecting mental health service delivery. (Required)Working knowledge of laws and ethics pertaining to mental health. (Required)Interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, as a member of committees, and collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff. (Required)Demonstrated skills to intervene with suicidal, homicidal, and psychotic clients. (Required)Demonstrated knowledge of the university environment and of developmental issues of college age students. (Preferred)Demonstrated skills in outreach and prevention services. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations MSW degree from an accredited school of social work. (Required) Possession of clinical social work license issued by the State of California. (Required)
