The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Research Assistant reports to the Program Manager, Canadian Neuromuscular Disease Registry.

The Canadian Neuromuscular Disease Registry (CNDR) is seeking a Research Assistant who can contribute to our impactful research programs by consenting patients, entering data, writing ethics applications and amendments, providing operational support to clinical sites, and assisting with other day-to-day research operations of the registry.
In addition to collecting patient data from clinics across Canada for research purposes, the CNDR is part of global initiatives and networks between physicians, patient, government, and industry partners to align and deliver on high-impact research projects in the dynamic and expanding field of neuromuscular disease.
Given the distributed nature of our work, this position will be a combination of remote and in-person work, with in-person hours occurring at both Foothills and South Health campuses. Travel between sites will be required.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Entering data, tracking data entry progress and completion, and maintaining up-to-date databases
- Engaging with patients in clinics about the registry; recruit & consent eligible patients
- Coordinate clinical research studies as needed: recruiting patients, scheduling, performing patient assessments, and coordination of physician exams
- Write and develop ethics submissions for new research projects and modifications for current projects as necessary
- Organize and maintain up-to-date records in the research office and on shared drives
- Establish and maintain effective, productive relationships with fellow team members and clinic and university staff
- Opportunity to contribute to posters and publications
- Other duties as required
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field
- 1-3 years clinical research experience in a health care setting
- Superior organizational, time management, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
- Familiarity with Tri-Council and Ethics documentation and submissions
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently (with minimal direction)
- Desire to learn and expand knowledge
- Ability to thrive and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants, families and manage difficult/sensitive information tactfully
- Understand and comply with the requirements and instructions of clinic staff, nurses and practitioners
- Comfortable learning and using project management tools and platforms
- French language an asset
- Knowledge of University policies an asset
