Department SummaryThe Veterans Initiatives and Partnerships (VIP), and UCLA/VA Center of Excellence (COE) on Veteran Resilience and Recovery, through research and training activities, aims to improve health and social outcomes and recovery for Veterans who are homeless and at high risk for behavioral health disorders, including mental and substance use disorders, as well as other at-risk and underserved Veteran populations. Through our outreach and engagement efforts, we strive for improved Veteran health and overall wellbeing, educational and vocational development, and Veteran-centric legal aid. VIP and COE also aim to foster the professional development of researchers, clinicians, and consumers who are committed to VIP and COE's primary mission.
Position SummaryThe Implementation Specialist (IS) working closely with VIP and COE on Veteran Resilience and Recovery leadership, will guide the development of Veteran Engagement Councils (VEC) and veteran-led community groups, in all supportive housing sites located on the West Los Angeles VA campus. The IS will manualize and refine the VEC approach; build buy-in among housing providers to host VECs; train and support veterans to lead VECs; and establish a network through which VECs contribute feedback on VA campus housing and service developments. In addition, the IS will develop, conduct, and assist in training housing staff working on the West Los Angeles VA campus in methods of assertive engagement relevant to working with veterans with experience of homelessness.

QualificationsDemonstrated thorough knowledge of supportive housing programs and clinical services relevant to serving homeless veterans including Housing First, Assertive Community Treatment, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Approaches, and assertive engagement techniques (Required) Knowledge of the mental health issues impacting individuals experiencing severe mental illness, homelessness, and/or co-occurring disorders (Required) Experience leading trainings for clinicians and/or administrators (Required) Experience providing clinical support for staff at remote sites who are dealing with challenging cases and caseloads (Required) Experience in developing educational materials for dissemination through an internet-based platform (Required) Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word and Excel (Required)Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously (Required)Familiarity with collaborative workspaces, such as Google Drive, Box, and/or SharePoint (Preferred) (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal AffiliationsBachelor's Degree in a mental health related field (Preferred) AndOther Type of Degree Advanced Degree in a mental health related field i.e. MSW, PhD, MA, PsyD, PhD or EdD (Preferred)
