Description
The Dean's Office within the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Digital Specialist for approximately 12 months.
This position reports to the Manager, Faculty Operations, Admin & Faculties and will collaborate with SAPL's Outreach Team members and as requested, support other groups in the school. The successful candidate will be a strong collaborator, prioritizing the success of the team over the success of the individual. They will be strategic, able to suggest and predict solutions for client communications while also willing to work tactfully to ensure one-off and project work are completed in a timely manner.
The normal hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some work may require travel to and from the CBDL (City Building Design Lab) our downtown location, located on the C-Train line. There will be occasional evening and weekend work due to events and when workloads are high. Flexibility in the role & occasionally hours of work is expected.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Work with other SAPL Outreach Team members to help promote projects and events.
- Build and maintain SAPL websites, e-marketing campaigns, digital promotions.
- Help build and maintain eMarketing campaigns using tools like Marketo.
- Work with peers to set goals and key messages for projects.
- Work with an understanding of design principles and UCalgary brand guidelines.
- Photography and videography of SAPL events. (some evening hours)
- Work with design tools, such as Adobe, Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, and others to supply basic graphic design.
- Create video stories for internal clients.
- Attention to detail, experience in proofing and editing.
- Write content for internal and external facing projects.
- General communications support.
- Interested in learning new technologies.
- Able to write for web and for print and a general understanding of the different techniques applied to the different writing mediums.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree in marketing, digital media, information design or communications is required.
- 2 - 5 years of experience in web management and social media, managing content architecture for websites and other digital communication is required.
- Experience in Marketo in building invitations, e-newsletters, and e-mail communications is required.
- Experience in Drupal building webpages, webforms and troubleshooting is required.
- Experience with design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Canva is required.
- Experience in livewhale is preferred.
- Knowledge of CMS systems - Drupal, Squarespace and others is required.
- Ability to use google analytics and develop and maintain measurement tools is required.
- Experience with web technologies - HTML, JavaScript, XML, and others is required.
- Knowledge of video platforms is required.
- A strong writer for both web and print.
- Experience in client services is required.
- Interest in developing communication skills.
- Experience and enjoyment working in team settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to continue growing through course-based and on the job training opportunities.
- Willingness to experiment with new ideas and tools.
