Job Description
Department: Teaching and Learning Center
General Statement of Job
The Teaching and Learning Center Coordinator develops, implements, and operationalizes projects related to professional and organizational development initiatives for faculty and staff. This role provides operational coordination within the department, contributing to the development and implementation of training sessions and educational resources. Responsibilities include creating multimedia materials such as booklets, flyers, short videos, and training guides for various projects, as well as managing the Teaching and Learning Center webpage, Professional Development system, and Digital Training Platform. The coordinator also facilitates workshops and presentations for faculty and staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with the TLC team to develop and execute departmental operational and strategic plans.
- Assists in the design and implementation of Teaching and Learning Center initiatives.
- Supports the Associate Dean in coordinating logistics, communication, and collaboration within the department and with other College departments and divisions.
- Oversees the production of training materials across multiple formats (e.g., website content, video clips, guides, handbooks, curricula).
- Works closely with the TLC team to facilitate academies, workshops, and educational events.
- Tracks project progress, ensuring established deliverables and successful execution of academies and awards.
- Maintains and updates the Teaching and Learning Center website, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Manages the Professional Development System, including creating workshops, assisting faculty and staff with registration, and providing system training.
- Assists the Associate Dean in developing and maintaining the comprehensive Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience in coordinating and facilitating events/and or trainings.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
- Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
