The Facilities team is comprised of over 300 trades personnel and service workers that provide trusted services and stewardship in support of teaching, learning, and discovery. This team is responsible for operations, maintenance, service, utilities distribution, and customer support. The Facilities Team Charter describes the purpose, vision, and values that in turn support the campus community.
Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for providing exceptional logistical, operational, and administrative support for Facilities operations. The Storekeeper manages how Facilities resources are acquired, stored, and transported to their final destination. This role is accountable for supporting, enabling, and improving the delivery of Facilities services to the campus community. This position is also responsible for the logistical and administrative tasks associated with daily campus mailroom duties. The Storekeeper works closely with a wide complement of individuals in Facilities and related units, as well as external suppliers to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products to the Parts Department’s main and satellite warehouses. The Storekeeper is expected to be proactive, flexible, and accommodating in providing support for Facilities colleagues and the campus community.
Nature of Work: Reporting to an Assistant Manager in Facilities, this position will work in an environment of continuous change, fast pace, shifting priorities, and frequent interruptions, as well as providing proactive customer-facing services to the community at the University of Saskatchewan. This position works independently and with minimal supervision and will frequently be working in high volume situations with pressure to meet tight deadlines. This role will interact collaboratively with groups and individuals across all of Facilities, as well as related units such as Procurement and Safety Resources. This position requires proven effective communication, effective ability to multitask, attention to detail, and time management skills both within a busy warehouse environment, as well as at various locations across campus. This position is also front facing, and is such there is an expectation to represent Facilities with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, consistency, honesty, and respect. This position is expected to be self-motivated and able to take initiative to develop and improve relationships, processes, and resolve issues when they arise. The work involves physical labour, and can involve extended periods of sitting, standing, and driving various types of passenger vehicles and warehouse equipment. Shifts are worked in conjunction with operating hours, which are subject to change.
Typical Duties/Accountabilities:
- Is accountable to the Facilities Team Charter, is aligned with its purpose, vision, and values, and holds themselves and each other accountable to it
- Is aware and mindful of safety hazards and must always work in compliance with all safety practices and procedures, and stays current with all Safety Resources training courses
- Stays current and is informed on all current Facilities contracts with external suppliers and applies the principles of these contracts accordingly; is aware of the various pricing, ordering process, lead times, for all current contracts
- Is familiar with and performs all aspects of current operations including but not limited to: storekeeping duties, shipping/receiving duties, mailroom duties
- Stays aware which items are stocked in the main warehouse, as well as which items are stocked in satellite warehouses; orders products and accepts deliveries at their appropriate locations, and is familiar with item applications and uses
- Works closely with Facilities Planners, as well as external suppliers, to ensure products are ordered and delivered to their respective locations with the appropriate timing, avoiding the need for an overabundance of products on shelves
- Sources stocked and non-stocked items as required through various suppliers as well as seeking potential new suppliers
- Performs regular audits and spot checks on items in all warehouses, participates in quarterly inventory counts of all warehouses, as well as monthly mailroom counts
- Is familiar with all mailroom software and equipment, bills campus customers appropriately, and ensures the timely receipt and delivery of campus mail
- Ensures all relevant campus mailroom duties for the day are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Safely operates USask passenger vehicles and warehouse equipment as required in accordance with the USask Vehicle Use and Driver Authorization Process
- Reports and arranges any required service, maintenance, or repairs on equipment
- Participates in the RFP process to rate proponents and select successful contract recipients as required
- Delivers items as required to various locations across campus
- Assists in reviewing inventory levels, making recommendations for changes to stock levels, , suggesting reorder points, and recommending items to be removed from inventory
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and utilize effective time management skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in various computer applications. This position will require the effective use of multiple interfaces through various supplier websites, the Bonfire application to grade RFPs and be informed of supplier contracts,
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications:
Education:
- Three to five years of experience in a complex and dynamic multi-purpose facility, or industrial operations setting
- Relevant post-secondary education, preferably in a business or finance related field
- Completion of a valid Red Seal Journeyperson’s certificate as a Parts Technician as recognized by the Saskatchewan Department of Labour would be an asset
Experience:
- Experience with work management and asset management software
- Familiarity and experience in logistics, trades, construction, or a manufacturing environment
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience would be considered for this position
- Demonstrated experience with customer service skills and the ability to work under pressure in a high volume environment with a high level of attention to detail
Licenses:
- Must hold and maintain a valid Province of Saskatchewan driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record
- Driver’s license information will be submitted on a yearly basis to USask Risk Management and Insurance
- Forklift training and certification will be provided
- A recent successful criminal record check is required
