Water and Wastewater Pollution, Treatment, and Control

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary has an opening for a Sessional Instructor for the following course in Fall 2025 (August 25 - December 24, 2025).
ENEN 695 Water and Wastewater Pollution, Treatment, and Control
Water and wastewater quality and flows; drinking water guidelines; water and wastewater treatment objectives. Physical, chemical, and biological treatment operations and processes such as coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, adsorption, ammonia and nutrient removal, aeration, suspended and fixed growth methods, membrane processes and others; design of water and wastewater treatment facilities; sludge characteristics and disposal; land treatment; reclaimed water reuse.
Position Requirements:
The successful candidate will be expected to have earned at least a master¿s degree in engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to the course. The successful candidate must also have very good previous teaching performance or show the potential for very good to excellent teaching ability, and a strong commitment to engineering education.
The Department of Civil Engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). To maintain our programs' accreditation, faculty must be licensed to practice engineering in Alberta. The successful candidate will be expected to hold professional engineering licensure with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or with an equivalent association in another Canadian province.
