Position Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Operations, Facilities and Intramurals coordinates, supervises and maintains all athletic facilities, equipment, uniforms and supervises athletic facility staff and student workers.
Perform the duties and responsibilities of this role at all times in a fashion that supports the college’s commitment to creating an academic institution where a variety of persons and perspectives are welcome, as well as to providing an environment where students from all cultures and backgrounds may succeed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, monitors, trains, and schedules all athletic facility staff.
Trains employees in proper methods and techniques for their job.
Facilitates daily usage and operations of the athletic facilities.
Laundry for athletic teams and the fitness center.
Evaluates and maintains athletic facilities, equipment, and ordering.
Set up preferred maintenance for fitness area machines, equipment, washers, and dryers.
Coordinates inventory, ordering, and athletic equipment/uniforms with Head Coaches per sport.
Coordinates with coaches and camp/rental liaison on schedules, usage, rentals, and summer camps.
Some game day operations may be required.
Coordinate staffing of the Assistant Facility Director and student workers.
Prepares various work schedules to ensure maximum efficiency in operations.
Negotiates prices and purchases equipment.
Coordinates and meets student needs by running all intramural activities.
Handles other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree plus 2-3 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills are acquired.
Interest in sports and/or sports facility management. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and to handle the stress of working with deadlines.
Ability to serve various constituencies by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, staff, faculty, coaches, and the Guilford Community.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, required.
Should be proficient in IMLeagues and When2Work software.
Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in sports or business management.
Previous supervisory experience. Knowledge of methods and principles of public recreation and safety practices concerning the operation of an athletic workout facility.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates who also demonstrate a commitment to recruiting, retaining, mentoring and actively engaging with under-represented and under served populations both on campus and in the broader community.
