Job DescriptionThe Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) at Boston College is seeking a Learning Designer, Learning Experience Designer, or Senior Learning Experience Designer to join our dedicated staff. This is an open rank call in which individuals will be considered qualified for a rank based on how well they fit the criteria below.
The Learning Designer supports the mission of Boston College by providing expert guidance to faculty and staff on the design of digital learning experiences and environments, including online and hybrid courses and programs. The Learning Designer provides consultation on pedagogical methodology for digital learning, digitally-enabled assessment and engagement strategies, effective practices in learning design, content development and curation, and instructional technologies to enhance online and digital teaching and learning. Through analysis, consultation, training, design planning, and course development, the Learning Designer supports faculty in designing effective online and digital courses that are learner-centered, engaging, and meaningful.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Learning Experience Designer also provides training and supervision of graduate student employees serving as Instructional Design Assistants and takes a leading role in faculty programming and other highly-visible responsibilities.
In further addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Learning Experience Designer also facilitates workshops, training sessions and individual consultations on the application of Learning Experience Design and design thinking to program- and course-level design, and provides mentorship to learning design colleagues on the use of Learning Experience Design techniques to course design, development, and faculty support.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following hiring range: $70,500 - $88,150
RequirementsQualified candidates for the Learning Designer role will have:
·1-2 years of experience in instructional design or learning technology
·Experience supporting instructional technologies (preferably in all modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online)
Qualified candidates for the Learning Experience Designer role will have:
·3-4 years of experience in instructional design within higher education
·Master’s degree in education or related field
·Experience supporting instructional technologies (preferably in all modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online)
·Experience teaching or running workshops in the higher education context
·Experience with assessment of online course and/or program quality
Qualified candidates for the Senior Learning Experience Designer will have:
·6+ years of experience in instructional design within higher education
·Master’s degree or terminal degree in education or related field
·Experience supporting instructional technologies (preferably in all modalities: face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online)
·Experience teaching and running workshops in the higher education context
·Experience with assessment of online course and/or program quality
·Experience with visual/graphic design, web design, and courseware authoring
·Experience facilitating design ideation and design thinking projects
