Description
The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for oversight of athletic department operations to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness across many areas. As a member of the administrative team, sound leadership presence is required. The Assistant AD performs responsibilities in alignment with the department vision of being a leading institution in performance and meaningful student-athlete experience, and consistently demonstrates valued behaviors of respect, grit, constant growth, and integrity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Expected to have broad understanding of all department operations, regardless of direct responsibilities, due to the need to fill in at any position temporarily if needed.
- Plans, administers, conducts, and evaluates all responsibilities with a goal of operational excellence.
- Oversees the Sports Information Department and overall consistency in branding, as well as branding as it relates to department vision. In conjunction with the Sports Information Director, oversees the development, implementation, and execution of comprehensive marketing and promotions for home athletic events, the website, and social media.
- Oversees all aspects of game-day operations with the utmost care and professionalism. This includes, but is not limited to scorer’s table, visiting team/official liaison, concession stand, admissions, and applicable marketing/promotions.
- Supervises staff and work study students as it relates to game day operations and/or sports information. Resolves personnel and operational issues around work study students.
- Create monthly operations and locker room schedules and provide communication to ensure effective execution.
- Oversees care (cleanliness and safety) of all athletic facilities, including work order, maintenance requests, and any special facility projects
- Oversee day-to-day athletics travel responsibilities, including communication with coaches, drivers, and the rental provider to confirm trips.
- Ensures that travel decisions are always made with safety as a priority and modes of transportation are compliant with DOT recommendations and ensures regular DOT compliance around drivers.
- Serves as a department liaison to applicable campus partners
- Assist with the planning and execution of events, such as the Student-Athlete Banquet, Graduation luncheons, and Hall of Fame
- Attend all conference and national meetings when necessary for continuing education.
- Ability to work in a high pace environment under stress. Nights and weekends are required.
- Performs additional responsibilities/duties as required and performs special projects as needed or requested.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five years of experience in intercollegiate athletics or related area.
- Demonstrated ability to solve athletic related issues under pressure
- Knowledge of NAIA legislation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree
- Eight years of experience in intercollegiate, semi-pro, or related area
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift/carry/relocate equipment and supplies to various locations for athletic events
- Ability to drive to various locations
- Ability to demonstrate work outside in all weather conditions
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work performed in various locations in and around the Life University campus, including athletic fields and gymnasiums
- Travel required
- Weekend & evening work is required. Must be flexible to accommodate a fast-paced and time demanding profession
