International Services for Students provides holistic programs and services to support the international, newcomer and refugee student experience at SFU and manages the University's Study Abroad Programs (formal exchange, study abroad, faculty-led field schools) with over 130 partners around the globe to facilitate transformative international and intercultural learning opportunities for SFU students.
About the Role
The position oversees undergraduate and graduate student exchange programs and academic field school activities. Serves as a strategic resource for undergraduate exchange, study abroad and field school partnership opportunities, working in close collaboration with SFUi partnership colleagues in the management of the university's exchange agreements with institutional partners. Implements agreements and liaises with senior officials from partner institutions and external stakeholder groups to facilitate the smooth operation of SFU's international undergraduate/graduate exchange, study abroad, field school partnerships, and other mobility programming initiatives. Identifies risk management considerations for programs and undergraduate participants, working closely with departmental staff; works with the supervisor to resolve critical incident cases involving students on in/outbound exchanges and/or field schools; administers an ongoing review process of program effectiveness; participates on internal committees; oversees development and implementation of designated programming for undergraduate and graduate student participants; and manages budgets.

Qualifications
Master's degree and four years of related international development and partnership management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent understanding of best practices in international mobility programming and a strong working knowledge of international partnership development issues and protocols.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), intercultural persuasion/negotiation, consensus-building, conflict management, relationship management, problem-solving, supervisory and mentoring skills.
- Excellent project, event and program development and management skills.
- Excellent crisis preparation and resolution skills.
