Job DescriptionThe Administrative & Events Assistant supports the Irish Institute of Boston College, which aims to deepen understanding of a changing Irish political landscape and to support peace and prosperity across Ireland, north and south. This post requires not only responsiveness to the dynamic and unique work of the Institute, but also a high level of initiative, responsibility, and capacity for judgement, and preferably a keen knowledge of Irish politics, history or culture.
This position involves three core areas of responsibility: (1) events (assisting with planning and supporting the delivery of a wide variety of public and private events of different size, scale and scope); (2) information (maintaining and building databases; synthesizing information and drafting documents/newsletters/publicity; anticipating needs for information flow; managing electronic and paper files; supporting the Institute’s online presence in all its forms); (3) external relations (serving as a key contact point for the Irish Institute and liaising with both internal and external partners and stakeholders).
Responsibilities include:
·Supporting day-to-day operation and functioning of Irish Institute initiatives in conjunction with the Director
·Event organization, administration and management
·Creation, management and updating of website, social media platforms and communication materials
·Database creation and management
·Supporting relations with other partners and collaborators
·Assisting with production, design and dissemination of locally produced research
·Developing systems and processes for managing events, projects and initiatives
·Financial and budgetary administration
·Supporting future Institute research, fundraising and student-led initiatives
·Occasional evening and weekend work
·Staff member will primarily be in-person and on campus.

Hiring Range: $25.60/hr to $32.01/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Business, Law or related field preferred
- Two years of prior experience supporting events, preferably in a professional or academic setting.
- Ability to deal with multiple constituencies, within and outside of the university, with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to take initiative, multitask, and prioritize work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, also InDesign, Eagle Apps and
Photoshop and experience of website and social media management
- Must be able to develop and maintain strategic, intentional partnerships both on campus and off
- Knowledge of Irish politics, history, culture, etc. is highly desirable.
