The Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for sessional instructors in Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 for the following course:
KNES 201, Activity: Essence & Experience - ACTIVITY LABS
In KNES 201, which consists of a lecture and activity labs, students participate in various activities and movement patterns and the study of the fundamental factors that influence the activities we choose and the way we move. This posting is for the activity labs, for both fall and winter term.
We are seeking applications for the specific activities we are offering in KNES 201 in the 2025-2026 academic year: (1) volleyball; (2) sitting volleyball; (3) track & field; (4) disability dance and movement; and (5) yoga.
Activity labs are organized in 6-week blocks, run twice weekly, and are 75-minutes each in length. Instructors teach in two different time slots across the two activity blocks within a term.
Fall Term
Block 1 - September 9 to October 17
Block 2-¿ October 21 to December 5
Lab 1 - W/F, 3:00pm to 4:15pm
Lab 2 - T/R, 9:30am to 10:45am
Lab 3 - T/R, 11:00am to 12:15pm
Lab 4 - T/R, 1:30pm to 2:45pm
Lab 5 - T/R, 3:30pm to 4:45pm
Winter Term
Block 1 - January 12 to February 25
Block 2 - February 25 to April 8
Lab 1 - M/W, 1:00pm to 2:15pm
Lab 2 - T/R, 9:30am to 10:45am
Lab 3 - T/R, 11:00am to 12:15pm
Lab 4 - T/R, 3:30pm to 4:45pm
Lab 5 - W/F, 3:00pm to 4:15pm
Successful candidates will ideally teach in Blocks 1 and 2 in both the fall and winter terms.
In general, instructor responsibilities include: activity lab instruction; assessment and grading; creation and management of the activity lab D2L shell; ongoing communication with students, course instructor, and staff; and, other assigned duties (as applicable). There are ~30 students per activity block.
Position Requirements
For KNES 201 activity labs, applicants must meet the following qualifications/requirements:
- Earned at minimum a bachelor¿s degree in Kinesiology or a related field; other educational qualifications will be considered alongside applicable certifications.
- Advanced expertise in the activity they will be instructing as part of KNES 201.
- Evidence of strong instructing of said activity, with teaching at the university level considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups of people.

*Required for applicants who have not taught courses in the Faculty of Kinesiology previously.

- Activity to be taught based on the list provided above and related qualifications
- Statement re: availability to teach in Blocks 1 and 2 in both fall and winter terms
- Availability based on lab days/times listed above in both fall and winter terms
