The Opportunity:
The Office of Research is seeking a Proposal Specialist I to support and assist daily activities related to proposal reviews, under the assigned proposal team. This position ensures compliance with sponsor requirements, university policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. The Proposal Specialist I will report to the Proposal Specialist III, Assistant Director or above on the pre-award daily activities.
Responsibilities:
Provides assistance with the preliminary/initial review of proposal submitted to the Office of Research for submission to sponsoring agencies.
Assisst in the guidance to investigators and college department research administrators on proposal requirements.
Provides guidance, advises and assists program investigators and departmental administrators in the interpretation of sponsor guidelines, forms, regulations and policies related to proposal and budgetary requirements.
Remains current with the Uniform Guidance and other regulations governing major issues related to research proposals.
Ensures that research proposals, related documents and approvals are reviewed and approved by appropriate University officials through the eRA system.
Coordinates with research collaborators to ensure their commitment and eligibility, and that all proposed financial documents are current, accurate and complete.
Ensures the adherence of established policies and procedures for submission to central office prior to proposal submission to external sponsoring agency or community partner (i.e. 5-day rule, eRA system, etc.).
Coordinates proposal submission with Proposal Specialist III and above within their assigned portfolio.
Attends relevant internal/external professional development trainings, seminars, conferences, Pre-award staff meetings, etc.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in grants administration, proposal development, or sponsored research support.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced research environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment in identifying and resolving issues.
Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on compliance at every stage of the proposal process.
Familiarity with electronic research administration systems such as the Huron Research Suite or similar platforms.
Experience with prioritizing and organizing numerous and varied assignments.
Working knowledge of sponsor guidelines, as well as federal, state, and institutional regulations to ensure compliance throughout the proposal review and submission process.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively understand and convey complex information.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $48,722 to $56,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Hybrid work schedule or remote work within the state of Florida may be considered based upon specific circumstances and candidate qualifications.
