Job Summary
BC’s Gynecologic Cancer Initiative is a world-leading, interdisciplinary team working together to drive innovative research that transforms how we prevent, diagnose, treat and improve survivorship care for people with gynecological cancer. We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Project Manager to lead the coordination and execution of the Rare Ovarian Cancer Collaborative Alliance (ROCCA), a newly funded initiative aimed at advancing research on rare ovarian cancers through a federated data network. This role will involve overseeing the financial, operational, and research aspects of the project, ensuring effective collaboration across institutions, and maintaining compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. The project manager will play a central role in driving the success of the network by managing multi-site collaborations, harmonizing data across cohorts, and facilitating data-sharing agreements and governance processes.
Organizational Status
You will report to Dr. Aline Talhouk, co-lead of the Rare Ovarian Cancer Collaborative Alliance, and work closely with international co-leads, clinicians, scientists and other partners.
Work Performed
Manage the financial and project administration of ROCCA, including setting milestones, liaising with stakeholders, monitoring project progress, and preparing status reports, budgets, and other project documentation.
Responsible for developing policies, processes, and guidelines to support data collection at other sites.
Ensure project planning and execution align with established goals, with a focus on meeting deliverable timelines and maintaining a clear project scope.
Coordinate and facilitate the creation of needed committees to undertake the necessary work.
Develop academic reports, presentations, scientific communications, and resource documents to communicate the project's progress and findings.
Act as the key resource and the advisory contact for project collaborators, partners, and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication across all parties.
Oversee the preparation, coordination and renewal of ethics applications for the project at the local institution, ensuring compliance with institutional ethics requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Lead the coordination of governance and data-sharing agreements, facilitating collaboration between institutions and ensuring legal and ethical compliance, and maintenance of governance documentation
Ensure that all participating institutions adhere to the overall governance framework and are following the project’s established policies, processes and guidelines to support data collection across all sites, while also facilitating the harmonization of data across different cohorts.
Identify, compose, and develop grant applications to secure funding for the network’s continuation and expansion.
Develop new international partnerships and scientific collaborations as part of the federated network, expanding the project's reach and impact.
Effectively communicate project progress to participants and stakeholders through structured reporting, regular meetings, and strategic updates
Facilitate communication across a range of scientific disciplines, ensuring that the project’s objectives are understood and met by all involved teams.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Accuracy, timeliness, and sound judgement are required to maximize the effectiveness of the Gynecologic Cancer Initiative. The individual will need to exercise independent judgement, feel comfortable working with a large and diverse team, and conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Any errors may seriously impact the reputation of the Faculty and University, compromising research credibility, and jeopardize longstanding and newly formed partnerships critical for success.
Supervision Received
Required to work independently on a day-to-day basis according to broadly established guidelines.
You will report to Dr. Aline Talhouk and work closely with international partners.
Supervision Given
The Project Manager may be responsible for the management of junior research staff and formally train and orient new staff and students.
