Simon Fraser University (SFU), a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II institution and a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time position of Assistant Coach, Golf.
About the Role
This position is responsible for aiding the Head Coach, Golf in the development and coaching of the Simon Fraser University (“SFU”) Golf program, within the established guidelines and the policies, regulations, and procedures of SFU and the Department of Athletics and Recreation, National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”), and Great Northwest Athletic Conference (“GNAC”).
Reporting to the Head Coach, Golf the Assistant Coach, Golf is responsible for assisting in practice, match planning and team management. This role helps in developing current student-athletes and identifying potential recruits as future SFU student-athletes. In addition, this role will also act as the community liaison for the Simon Fraser Golf program.
Additional responsibilities will include assisting the Head Coach, Golf in all facets of the program to develop a quality National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) Division II Golf program that will be competitive on the course, in the classroom, and in the community.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 5 years coaching experience with high performance athletes aged 16 years and over (i.e. Provincial, National, University/College). Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred. Professional Golfers’ Association of Canada Apprentice Professional or Class “A” Professional certification or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge and analysis of golf skill development and excellent instructional ability.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to deal with discretion in confidential and sensitive issues.
- Ability to problem solve and work independently.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including, but not limited to, working in inclement weather, physical exertion over sustained periods of time to complete job activities.
- Ability to travel extensively and work evenings and weekends when required.
