The Strategy and Global Management (SGMA) Area at the Haskayne School of Business (HSB), University of Calgary, invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in International Business Strategy. The appointment start date is July 1, 2026.
Candidates must have completed or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in International Business, Strategy, or a closely related field, such as Business Economics. We seek collegial candidates with a strong research orientation (e.g., ability to publish in high-quality journals) and the ability to teach courses in strategy, introduction to business, and international business. Duties include research, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and professional service to the Area, the School, the University, and the community.
Candidates must have:
- Evidence of excellence in scholarship, as demonstrated by publications or invited revisions in Academic Journal Guide (AJG) 4* journals, commensurate with career stage.
- A clearly defined and sustained research identity in international business strategy, as demonstrated by a cohesive body of work, and a consistent record of publications in top international business journals (e.g., Journal of International Business Studies), commensurate with career stage.
- A strong research program in international business strategy, with high potential for future publications in high-impact academic outlets such as AJG 4* journals,
- Evidence of strong theoretical and methodological skills and a mastery of the relevant literature,
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, as demonstrated by excellent student evaluations, or other supporting materials,
- A willingness to engage in service to the school, university, and profession.
Faculty in the SGMA Area at the Haskayne School of Business are engaged in research related to topics such as multinational enterprises, clusters, global value chains, family business, and strategic leadership. We invite applications from candidates with expertise in any area within the broad international business strategy domain. Area members have published in such journals as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business, and Strategic Management Journal.
