The Assistant Coach will work in collaboration with the Head Coach to foster the growth and success of the women’s volleyball program. This role involves responsibilities in coaching, recruiting, mentoring student-athletes, and supporting the administrative and operational aspects of the team. The ideal candidate is passionate about volleyball, committed to student development, and ready to contribute to a vibrant university community.
Duties/Responsibilities
Coaching & Program Support
Assist with all aspects of practice and match planning, execution, and review
Support daily operations: team travel, lodging, meal coordination, scheduling
Contribute to off-season training, summer programming, and team bonding initiatives
Attend all matches, practices, team events, and clinics/camps
Recruitment & Outreach
Scout and evaluate prospective student-athletes at local and national events
Maintain and manage recruiting database using Front Rush
Initiate and maintain consistent communication with recruits and their families
Coordinate campus visits in partnership with Admissions and Athletic Department
Film & Performance Analysis
Upload and manage match film using Hudl
Break down game film for individual and team development
Scout opponents and prepare written/video reports for competition
Student-Athlete Development
Serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes
Provide academic and athletic guidance and foster a culture of accountability
Model professionalism, integrity, and inclusivity at all times
Fundraising & Community Engagement
Support program fundraising efforts: camps, clinics, jamborees, and merchandise sales
Actively participate in community service events including:
Operations & Communications
Manage team equipment, uniforms, and gear inventory
Oversee and update team social media accounts
Coordinate team travel
Help plan the Year-End Banquet and senior recognition
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Previous successful coaching and/or collegiate playing experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with student-athletes, colleagues, and campus partners
Computer proficiency (e.g., recruiting software, video analysis platforms, Microsoft Office)
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
