Macquarie University is home to the nation’s largest and most comprehensive Motor Neuron Disease Research Centre which is a dynamic, multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the lives of MND patients and their families through world-leading research, clinical innovation and industry collaboration.
We are seeking an organised and proactive Research Centre Coordinator to join our vibrant MND Research Centre within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. This role will support the Centre’s daily operations, help coordinate research activities and play a vital role in strengthening our connections with patients, families, researchers, clinicians and supporters.
About the Role
As the Research Centre Coordinator, you will:
- Provide high-level administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth functioning of the Centre.
- Coordinate financial activities, including budgets, research grant reporting, and expenditure monitoring.
- Support marketing and communications, including managing website content, branding, events such as the MND Gala, and the Macquarie Neurodegeneration Conference.
- Organise meetings, conferences and related travel, accommodation and catering.
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support collaborative research and philanthropic activities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, meeting materials and data to support research governance and compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of administrative processes and stakeholder engagement.
About You
You are a highly organised professional who enjoys working in a collaborative and mission-driven environment. You will have:
- Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience in administration, research coordination or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budget monitoring and grant reporting.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management and online systems.
- Experience coordinating events, preparing reports and supporting marketing or community engagement activities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently while contributing to a supportive team culture.
- Knowledge of medical or health research settings and terminology (desirable).
