The Role
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Technology Assistant to join the AV Services team within IT Shared Services at Macquarie University.
This role provides frontline support for the University’s audio-visual systems and related technology across teaching spaces, meeting rooms, and event venues. You will provide technical assistance to users, respond to service requests, resolve incidents, perform setup and maintenance of audio-visual equipment, and contribute to maintaining accurate support documentation. The role also includes supporting end-user access to devices, specialist equipment, and technology systems as part of the wider IT Shared Services function.
Reporting to the Manager, Technology Services, you will work collaboratively with clients and IT teams to deliver consistent, high-quality AV and IT support services aligned to University service standards.
Key Accountabilities include (but not limited to)
Provide support to users and resolve reported issues related to audio visual systems, devices, and technology infrastructure, escalating as appropriate.
Facilitate user access to AV systems, end-user devices, specialist equipment, and technology services across teaching, learning, meeting, and event spaces.
Perform standard setup, installation, maintenance, and configuration of audio-visual equipment, systems, and associated infrastructure.
Maintain user and support documentation to ensure correct and effective use of AV and IT systems.
Promote and support the correct processes for logging incidents and service requests.
Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.
Perform other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.
About Us
The Vice-President, Professional Services provides leadership for a broad portfolio of professional and business services at Macquarie University. IT Shared Services delivers customer-focused IT and AV support services, driving continuous improvement and service excellence. The AV Services team provides operational support for teaching spaces, meeting rooms, and event venues, ensuring reliable audio-visual technology for staff and students across the University.
About You
You have relevant technical experience with audio visual systems and technology support, with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented approach. You are confident working with a range of AV technologies used in teaching, meetings, and events, and can apply established processes and procedures to resolve issues and maintain system reliability.
To be successful, you can demonstrate:
Relevant technical experience with audio visual systems and/or equivalent education/training.
Knowledge of AV equipment such as microphones, cameras, projectors, control systems, displays, and video conferencing platforms.
High level of computer literacy and ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve technology-related issues.
Experience handling support requests, resolving incidents, and maintaining accurate support documentation.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and stakeholders.
Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures when delivering support services.
Effective time management and ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.
