Qualifications- Minimum ten years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, preferably in intercollegiate athletics fundraising and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required)
- Experience in and strong documented record of gifts solicited and closed in the special, major and principal gifts range and/or solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required)
- Prior experience in and/or ability to develop sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing and administering principal gift solicitations or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required)
- Experience with Boards and volunteer and campaign committees. (Required)
- Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of principal gift fundraising at a major research university or institution of equal complexity. (Required)
- Strong and broad knowledge of planned giving mechanisms. (Required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of critical issues in collegiate athletics and familiarity with terminology associated with athletics fundraising. (Required)
- Understanding of the unique role of collegiate athletics in a large university, and how to communicate that in a comprehensive campaign. (Required)
- Strong communication skills to express both orally and in writing, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to campaign priorities and the Department of Athletics. (Required)
- Strong written communication skills and experience developing proposals and giving persuasive presentations. (Required)
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships and work harmoniously with a wide variety of internal/external constituents. (Required)
- Collaborative skills and experience engaging and bringing key stakeholders – athletic directors, chief executives, donors, leadership volunteers, board members, coaches, etc. - into the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process. (Required)
- Ability to be proactive, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at establishing priorities and managing workflow to fulfill objectives and meet goals according to deadlines in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision. (Required)
- Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, and other stakeholders/constituents and in the handling and maintenance of confidential donor files/information. (Required)
- Engaged, focused and goal oriented with a high level of initiative and energy; resilient with ability to maintain an optimistic outlook. (Required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs is required as is familiarity with CRM platforms and other applications, programs and databases as needed with a willingness to learn new technologies. (Required)
