About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Learning Designer to manage and facilitate the design, development and implementation of educational strategy, curriculum design and pedagogy across the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Reporting to the Learning Design and Production Lead and working with learning design, ed-media production, and faculty leadership, the Senior Learning Designer will develop and implement learning and teaching strategies, practices, and proactively contribute to the development of innovation in pedagogy and educational strategy across the Faculty.
A key focus for this role will be to lead the redesign of large undergraduate courses in alignment with our newly defined educational strategy. The Senior Learning Designer will play a crucial role in transforming our curriculum to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. This involves working with academic staff to ensure that the curriculum is dynamic, experiential, impactful, inclusive, purposeful, and aligned with contemporary educational practices. Responsibilities include the design, development, and implementation of curriculum, assessment, and resources. Additionally, the role will involve managing learning design projects and providing expert advice to academic staff to support and innovate teaching practices.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is a young and dynamic faculty driven by the spirit of discovery. Here we nurture the next generation of science and technology innovators. From a handful of students on the University’s first day, the Faculty now serves over 9,000 students across all our courses.
About You
You are passionate about driving educational transformation, have extensive knowledge of adult learning principles, pedagogies, proven experience in the development and implementation of innovative learning and teaching strategies and have demonstrated success in the planning and delivery of large-scale learning design projects. Your experience in the design, preparation and implementation of education courses using web-based platforms and/or learning management systems will ensure your success in this role.

Tertiary qualification (including postgraduate) in learning technologies and/or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated wide knowledge of current adult learning principles (including online/blended learning pedagogies), with evidence of knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of innovative learning and teaching strategies.
Demonstrated working knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, and proven ability to work to a project plan to deliver large-scale curriculum development projects.
Demonstrated working knowledge of institutional learning management systems, with evidence of wide experience in design, preparation, and implementation of education courses (including the development of resources and learning materials) using web-based platforms and/or content management systems.
Demonstrated ability to apply instructional design theories to design and develop dynamic and bespoke learning objects, activities, and assessments coupled with compelling storytelling and authentic learning experiences.
Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build, manage and maintain effective working relationships, including a proven ability to provide expert advice for professional development to internal stakeholders in an educational environment.
Evidence of contribution to a service culture which drives and encourages collaboration, continuous improvement and agility.
