• Classification: HEW 5, Step 1 ($47.14) plus 25% casual loading and 12% superannuation

THE ROLE
An excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative and supportive teaching environment at the Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) in the position of Special Education Teacher as MUSEC expands with an additional classes and programs in 2025.
In contributing to the learning and development of primary aged students with special learning needs, you will work closely with Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Sports Coaches and Classroom Assistants in designing, delivering and assessing educational programs.
Furthermore, the Special Education Teacher plays a key role in the learning experience of postgraduate students on professional placements by modelling evidence based special education teaching methodologies and has a unique opportunity to support and participate in research-based activities relevant to MUSEC.

Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) is an Independent School based at Macquarie University providing high quality education to primary students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, autism and language difficulties across Kindergarten to Year 6.

To be considered for this position, please submit your CV and a cover letter (not exceeding 3 pages) that demonstrates how you meet the following selection criteria:
Essential Criteria
Qualifications and experience in teaching Primary curriculum;
Deep knowledge of the Primary curriculum.
Accredited at or working towards Proficient Level through NESA;
An ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
Sound technology skills including the use of Interactive Whiteboards and iPads and how to integrate technology into the curriculum;
Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff and families;
Engaging and collaborative team member;
an ability to organise and direct teaching support staff including Allied Health team members;
Excellent organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in working with students with a range of disabilities;
Experience and/or qualifications in the area of Special Education;
Holding a Light Rigid Licence or willingness to drive a 12-seater school van.
