Job DescriptionResearch Technician
The Folker Lab in the Biology Department at Boston College
has an opening for a Research Technician. The successful candidate will spend 50% time managing the stocking of
the laboratory and coordinating functions that are critical to all
projects. 50% of the time will be spent
engaging in original, hypothesis-driven research. This research will utilize a combination of Drosophila genetics, microscopy, and
image analysis in addition to standard molecular biology techniques. Specific responsibilities for this position
include:
- Maintaining Drosophila stocks
- Maintaining solutions of buffers and other lab reagents
- Keeping general lab reagents stocked
- Attendance at and participation in lab meetings
- Completion of experiments with careful documentation
- Analysis of experiments with documentation
- Presentation of data at lab meetings
