The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.
Job Description:
The fellow will be assigned to the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine preceptor team throughout the fellowship, with the fellow working in tandem with the preceptor team in outpatient clinic, inpatient units, and interdisciplinary discussions, rounds and forums for continuing medical education. The fellow is expected to attend and present at both Physiatry and interdisciplinary rounds and discussions. The inpatient experience will consist of managing the Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) inpatient Pediatric Physiatry consultation service, completing inpatient consultations (2-5 consults per week). The outpatient experience will consist of attending various pediatric and adult Rehabilitation Medicine clinics focused on childhood onset disorders and supporting patients admitted to the ACH Gordon Townsend School Intensive Rehabilitation and Education program. Fellows will run longitudinal clinics to follow their own patients throughout the duration of their training. Further medical education experiences will be arranged with other specialties, including Developmental Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Pediatric Rheumatology and Pediatric Pain Medicine, to supplement core knowledge and skills. Approval for up to 8 weeks of elective time outside of the Calgary program with be considered upon collaboratively determining the clinical objectives between the fellow and the fellowship training program.
The fellow will be supported to lead and complete a structured scholarly project focusing on patient reported outcome and/or experience measures during their fellowship.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include an MD or equivalent and completion of a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or equivalent training from another professional body. Candidates must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and for medical staff privileges from Alberta Health Services.
