The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Academic Integrity Specialist for approximately 24 months.
The Academic Integrity Specialist is a key member of the Haskayne School of Business team, responsible for upholding academic integrity standards and leading responses to academic misconduct across graduate and undergraduate programs. This position makes decisions regarding the reasonableness and validity of student statements and evidence, recommends academic integrity investigation decisions and discipline, and develops, implements and delivers academic integrity materials, education, training and resources to students, faculty and staff.
Reporting to the Manager, Programs, this position works closely with the Associate Deans, Graduate and Undergraduate Programs and the HSB's Academic Development Specialist . The incumbent also works closely with students, faculty and staff, balancing stakeholder interests in a diverse, multicultural environment. Decisions must be in accordance with the University's policies and procedures and support the HSB's strategic priorities, with a high attention to detail.
This position has a direct impact on the reputation and quality of the HSB's programs and the student and faculty experience. Managing complex, confidential and sensitive cases with discretion and sound judgement is essential. Poor decisions or processes could lead to appeals, jeopardize student wellness, and impact the University's reputation.
Due to operational requirements, the role is on-campus and not eligible for hybrid or remote work. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. (35 hours per week); however, due to constantly shifting priorities, flexibility is essential, including some evening and weekend hours. Given the academic schedule, seasonality of workload volume will fluctuate.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Acts as a central resource and subject matter expert on academic integrity and misconduct policy for HSB faculty, staff, and students.
- Serves as the first point of contact for academic integrity queries and information.
- Stays current on trends and best practices in academic integrity; researches and recommends improvements to University policies and procedures.
- Develops and implements prevention strategies and educational materials for students, faculty, and staff.
- Designs and delivers academic integrity education, workshops, and training (including for exam invigilators).
- Establishes and maintains standards and processes for investigations, including documentation and timelines.
- Leads and coordinates academic misconduct investigations in accordance with university policy and procedural fairness, from initiation through to decision recommendation or referral.
- Drafts decision letters, meets with students and faculty, verifies facts, and recommends outcomes.
- Prepares documentation for committees and represents HSB in academic integrity hearings and appeals.
- Manages a central database of cases and a repository of educational resources and regulations.
- Tracks and analyzes data on cases and appeals, prepares reports, and identifies emerging trends.
- Monitors known cheating sites for HSB content, alerts faculty, and advocates for content removal.
- Participates on University committees pertaining to Academic Integrity and Misconduct as requested.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 3-4 years of related experience in a multicultural academic environment; background in business administration, public policy, or post-secondary program management preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of academic integrity principles, investigation practices and institutional policy.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed reports and decision letters.
- Demonstrated ability to implement policy with integrity and empathy, applying rules thoughtfully, with attention to individual context and fairness.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective educational content and training.
- Strong organizational skills and familiarity with data management tools.
- Exceptional discretion, sound judgment, and ability to navigate sensitive situations tactfully.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous engagement.
- Technical proficiency with relevant management software applications.
