About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst/Strategy Consultant to deliver high-impact IT initiative proposals and prioritisation processes within the University. Reporting to the Head of IT Investment and Initiatives within IT Delivery, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure successful project identification, estimation and prioritisation.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University’s strategic priorities by managing enhanced operational efficiency, improved stakeholder experience, and delivery of measurable outcomes. You will lead analysis and manage support activities to solve complex
problems in the execution of business improvements projects and new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive investment proposals, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Deliver detailed reports and presentations on findings, strategies, and progress to senior management.
Conduct the governance process for the prioritisation of new initiatives.
Collaborate with stakeholders across various levels to align project objectives with organisational goals.
Identify, assess, and mitigate process risks to maintain momentum and success.
Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment to ensure team alignment and productivity.
Drive continuous improvement by analysing performance and implementing lessons learned.
This role will be based at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde. This is a fixed term contract role ending 5 May 2027.
About You
You are an experienced Senior Business Analyst/Strategy Consultant with robust analytical skills, highly attentive to detail and able to interpret complex information. You have a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Additionally, you will have the following:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g., IT, Business or Finance).
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in management consulting, business strategy or a related field.
A proven track record of delivering business cases/investment proposals across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
Knowledge of project management and business analysis methodologies and tools, with relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile) being highly desirable.
Desirable criteria
Certification in project management methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP) is highly desirable.
Previous experience working in the higher education, research, or similar sectors is advantageous.
